Commercial vehicle specialist MC Group is celebrating after being named in the Sunday Times PwC Top Track 250 which lists Britain’s leading mid-market private companies with the biggest sales.
The company, which hires out, sells, services and maintains commercial vehicles from seven locations across the south east, has also been praised for its work in keeping essential transport services running during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Long-established MC Group was ranked 190th in the special Covid-19 edition of Top Track 250, published this week, with sales up nine per cent at £131.8 million and operating profits up by 11 per cent at £14.2 million.
Headquartered in Maidstone, Kent, the company employs 380 staff and has a rental fleet of more than 2,800 vehicles.

The 250 companies in the 16th edition of the Sunday Times PwC Top Track 250 achieved combined sales of £59.7bn, a 17 per cent increase year-on-year, and profits of £5.1bn, up 25 per cent.
They employed 405,000 people, up 15 per cent over the period, although some have since made redundancies. Despite tough trading conditions, 77 per cent said they were optimistic about their post-pandemic prospects.

Companies are ranked by sales in their latest available accounts – with minimum required growth of five per cent in profit or sales. Details on financials and staff largely relate to before Covid-19 struck. MC Group’s year end is December.

The company, which has seven locations covering Essex, Kent, Sussex and Hampshire and has strong family links across generations, also has its own training school.
It offers a comprehensive range of services to the commercial vehicle industry, including new and used truck sales, servicing, repairs contract maintenance and preventive maintenance and parts.
