Metal componentmanufacturer and supplier,Folsana Pressed Sections,has taken delivery of anew Volvo FH6x2Globetrotter XL pusher axletractor unit,after being impressed by aVolvoFM12that has been on its fleetfor 15years, covering nearly1,000,000km.Supplied by Paul McNicholas, Customer Solutions Managerat Thomas Hardie Commercials,the FHbenefits from Volvo’sD13K,Euro-6,Step D engine, which is capable of producing up to 460 hp and2,300 Nm of torque, with excellent driveability and low fuel consumption.
The new vehicle also featuresVolvo’s 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox, which evaluates information about speed, weight, road grade and torque demand to perform every shift with precision –constantly communicating with the engine to allow it to adjust the revs and brake-effect for maximum performance.Driver, Wayne Cavanaugh, who has driven for the company for 18 years, says:“The FM served me wellover the years and was always a lovely drive, however the new FH is something else completely, particularly with the amount of living space it gives meinside the Globetrotter XL cab.“The I-Shift gearbox is also a game changer;I have only ever drivena manual,so the FH now makes my job so mucheasier. I’d hearda lot of positive thingsabout I-Shift from other drivers, and it’sdefinitelyliving up tothem.

Ithas also been spec’d with a 33-litre under bunk fridge/freezer, as well as a microwave oven and TV preparation kit. Thomas Hardie Commercialssupplied the new vehicle with a VolvoBlue Contractwhichcovers all preventative maintenance, enabling the customer to know its planned service costs upfront.
