Founded in 2009 by Rhys Fildes, Chadkirk Transport are looking to further expand its fleet of vehicles with the addition of a first articulated lorry.

In the last 12 months alone, the Stockport company have almost solely focused on improving its taskforce including recruitment and training. Having hired two new drivers, Chadkirk Transport has also hired two new employees in the office to help manage the operations and HR processes respectively.

Rhys said, “We’ve also focused on developing and progressing our drivers. For example, we helped one of our drivers, Gordon Dunworth, complete his HGV Class 2 License last year and therefore he can now drive our 12 and 18-tonne lorries”.

Chadkirk Transport operates a fleet of 12 vehicles including small vans and long wheelbases to 7.5 tonne and 18-tonne lorries.
Rhys continued, “Most of the commodities we carry are general goods, however, we do have specialist vehicles in our fleet such as our 18t box to carry special goods, particularly for the props industry. We are ADR and FORS accredited”.

All Euro 5 or 6 legislation, the fleet is made up of DAF, Iveco and VW vehicles. As such, Rhys admitted that Chadkirk wants to continue investing in more vehicles as the business grows – including the inclusion of a first articulated truck.

“We’ve recently changed our tracking provider to TomTom Webfleet which allows us to provide our customers with real-time tracking. As it includes real-time traffic information too, we can give our customers accurate estimated delivery times. We’ve also had all our vehicles fitted with high-quality CCTV, which particularly helped us to achieve our FORS Silver Accreditation in October 2017. As a company, it also allows us to improve road safety”, said Director Rhys.

Chadkirk Transport regularly use subcontractors due to the amount of work the organisation has taken on since its formation in 2009.

In the short term, the firm plans to put all of their drivers through a four-day ADR course which will help Chadkirk Transport to tackle more clients and more industries.

Rhys said, “As the business grows, we are keen to secure more regular, contracted clients over the next couple of years. We will also consider achieving the FORS Gold Accreditation later on this year. This will be a huge step from the Silver however we’re determined to get there as we know how beneficial it could be to the business”.
